1 Minute Maine Coon Kittens Break Video
Maine Coon kittens typically spend their first 12 weeks being raised with their mother and other kittens in the litter before they are considered ready to be adopted. At around 7 weeks old, they will get their vaccinations and three weeks later receive their booster and Rabies shots. This breed is relatively slow to mature and Maine Coons often take 3-5 years to reach full size and maturity. Socializing Maine Coon kittens with people, other kittens, children, common household sounds, and other pets is great for their development.
Maine Coon kittens start to grow their shaggy coat at varied ages that may also be impacted by their climate. Some kittens develop their coat almost immediately and look like miniature MC adults at 3 or 4 months. Others may start getting britches and belly fur around 6 months and a ruff will start to fill in as late as 1 year. Maine Coons typically get their full adult fur in by the age of 2 years old. Maine Coon kittens come in a wide variety of colors including: solid white, grey, cream, red, blue/grey, and all black. They also have a broad range of fur patterns including: tabby, bi-color, particolor, tortoiseshell, shaded, and calico.
Maine Coon kittens and cats are highly social and like the company of humans and other cats. They do well with other pets and ideally are socialized with other pets at a young age.
