It’s safe to say that Pat Doody, 32-year-old motorcyclist and sheetmetal worker, has seen it all. His tough exterior yields to his kind heart in this touching story of rescue and redemption.
Doody was on his way back home from the Born Free motorcycle show last fall when he stumbled upon a tiny kitten at a gas station. He recognized that the kitten was badly burned and malnourished, and took it upon himself to help the poor animal.
At first, Doody planned on feeding the kitten and treating its wounds for a few weeks until they could make it to an animal shelter where he could get better care. After miles on the road with the kitten, deemed “Party Cat,” Doody found himself getting emotionally attached to the animal.
The cat was so relaxed and well behaved that he couldn’t bear to give it up. “He just hangs out in my vest when we get on the road. I’ve never met a cat so calm,” says Doody. Together, the two of them traveled all the way back home to New Jersey, where they still live today.
Party Cat has received ample medical attention and is continuing to get stronger as he grows. Doody recalls his experiences with the kitten as some of the best memories of the trip.
