Cats Love cardboard boxes for many good reasons and this love affair goes way back and is rooted in the fact that cats love to squeeze into tight spaces. These adorable photos are evidence that pretty much all cats love to play with boxes. Here are five reasons why all cats love cardboard boxes:
1) As a predator that may also be prey, cats love the security and hiding capability of a cardboard box. As a predator, the box makes for a great hiding place and the ability to launch out of the box and ambush potential prey. This is normal feline behavior as an ambush predator.
2) As potential prey, the box also offers an escape spot and a snug place to hide. When dealing with stressful situations or strangers visiting the house, cats love a great place to run and hide. Most cats prefer to have many hiding places and escape spots within the house. 3) Cardboard boxes are also a great insulator and provide warmth. Since the normal body temperature of cats is in the range of 101.0 to 102.5°F (38.3 – 39.2°C), they love cardboard boxes as a small space to curl up, relax, and make a warm and comfy space via the cats natural body heat. 4) Cardboard also happens to be a great material for scratching and biting. The texture of a cardboard box is perfect for cats. Many cats are bored and boxes make for an interesting means to entertain cats. 5) All Cats are naturally curious and a new cardboard box provides an interesting space and new smells to explore. The curious nature of cats applies to wild big cats and small domestic cats. Even big cats, can’t resist a cardboard box. Based on the photo proof above, cats can be endlessly entertained (and endlessly entertaining) with a simple cardboard box. Cats are generally known for their indifference (which can be disappointing), but take heart, there is an object that’s pretty much guaranteed to pique their interest…..the inexpensive cardboard box. Any box, really. Big boxes, small boxes, irregularly shaped boxes—it doesn’t matter. Place one on the ground, a chair, or a bookshelf and watch as your feline snuggler quickly hijack it.Remember to “share” this with other Cat fans and “subscribe” to our CatFancast Channel on YouTube.
